A fever is a temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher. On its own, it usually isn’t dangerous. How your child is acting often tells you more than the number on the thermometer.
Call us right away if:
- Your baby is under 3 months old with a temperature of 100.4°F or higher
- Your child is hard to wake, very fussy, or won’t drink
- The fever lasts more than 3 days
- Your child has trouble breathing
For anything else, our 24/7 nurse line can help you decide whether to come in. For an emergency, call 911.
